bipolar disorder, Dr. Paul Markovitz  Q. Is it possible that there are some BP people who meds don't work on? My son is 9 and 1/2 years old ,tried Ritalin ,Clonidine, Dexedrine (original DX ADHD)Cylert, Mellaril, Ritalin and Clonidine, Depakote, Depakote and Ritalin, Depakote And Risperdal, Lithium and Risperdal, Topamax and Risperdal....Currently Risperdal 1mg am 2mg pm and Topamax 50 mg am and 100 mg pm.

  A. Unfortunately, there are always some people that do not respond to medications. The primary reason for this, however, is that they are misdiagnosed. If your son is not doing well, you may want to consider a second opinion. He may have something other than bipolar disorder.
