Mild Depressive Episodes
I am self diagnosed as having mild depressive episodes. Is it possible to even be mild within the mild diagnosis?
My father suffered from depression as well, so there is a family history. However, my symptoms are enough to
be annoying and confusing for my husband, I am not overly concerned about myself.
I do wish to treat these symptoms somehow and preferably without medication. What are my options in treating
mild depression and getting on my way to being a much happier person?
While I can't give diagnosis in this forum, it's quite likely that you are suffering from a cyclical depressed mood, rather than an actual Depressive Disorder. The most obvious remedy for this type of condition is to seek counseling. As for alternative treatments, many people have had great success with Saint John's Wort. If you were to pursue this, I would suggest exploring the Enzymatic Therapies brand. In addition, many women take Evening Primrose Oil to mitigate the emotional instability associated with PMS. Twinlab makes very good product called Evening Primrose Oil 1300.
You may also want to explore the possibility of being sensitive to yeast. There is a book entitled
"The
Yeast Connection: A Medical Breakthrough
by William G. Crook, Cynthia P. Crook (Illustrator), James
H. Brodsky" that may be helpful.
