Cymbalta and Weight Gain
I am on the medication cymbalta. Have been for about 5 months. Can
this
medication causes weight gain. I have gained weight around the middle for no
reason.Seem like I keep gaining. What do you think I should do ? change meds
or what?
There is no clinical documentation for Cybalta causing weight
gain. In
fact, one of the side effects is actually decreased appetite. I'm going to
guess that your weight gain is a function of your depression, and, depending
on your age, it's showing up in your mid-section because that's where your
carbs are going.
If the med is working, don't change it. Rather, think about your
lifestyle.
Change your diet -- but DON'T diet. Are you exercising...are your
exercising to control your weight? 30 minutes on a treadmill or stationary
bike 5 days a week will strip weight off you like there's no tomorrow.
Walk
more. Climb stairs more. Eat more fruits and vegetables and less
breads
and fats. Your body is the only place you really have to live...treat it
that way.
