Zoloft and Weight Gain
I am a 26 year old female, and I have been on Zoloft for about 9 years. I take 50mg once a day. Over these years, my weight has fluxuated on and off... however, in the past year and a half, I have gained 30lbs... this is due to depression and overeating, because of the loss of both my parents in the past 2 years... however, now I am doing better and have been trying to lose the weight. I have been on Weight Watchers for about 2 weeks and have been doing
cardio (the eliptical machine) for 30mins a day, 5 days a week. I have not lost any weight. Could the Zoloft be preventing me from losing weight or do I just need to diet more strictly?
It's not about dieting, it's about lifestyle. That you have suddenly put on this weight after being on Zoloft for so many years suggests it's not about the meds.
A friend of mine is a world class athlete and former Olympian. She swears by the Body for Life program. Further, there are supplements you can take, including NO2 and, a natural weight loss product called Lean System 7. Both of these have been blessed by a naturopath with whom I am acquainted. Note that I am not providing you with a prescription, just a suggestion and neither the Mental Health Sanctuary, nor myself in any way endorse these product or are liable for your results should you undertake to explore adding then to your training regime.
Mix your cardio...if you're doing half an hour, do 15 minutes on the bike and 15 minutes on the stair climber, etc. Also, Pilates and Yoga are both great for over all conditioning (Pilates is geared more toward weight loss, Yoga, strength).
