My name is Alysia and I am a 27 year old Female. 

I am from Australia, Have been diagnosed with BPD for 8 years, and have been VERY stable for two. I still have quite extreme dissasosiative episodes and hallucinations to this day, aural and visual, severe panic attacks, I have severely self harmed to the point where I have limited feeling in my right hand due to severing tendons etc. I have suffered with and can still with rapid cycling mood changes, and also have long cycles of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ times, have had trouble in the past with compulsive behavior, such as stealing, drug abuse, food issues, self harm, compulsive shopping , which are now treated with minimal medication (as I am allergic to anti-psychotics) and a great husband, and psychologist. I have had cognitive therapy, and two years of weekly psychoanalytical therapy with a specialist psychologist

I am willing and able to talk to people suffering with BPD, or family and friends having to live with/ support loved ones with BPD. I feel I have been through the worst of BPD, and still live with it everyday of my life, but am proof that a stable relationship is attainable for some as is a family, I run a small business from home, even though I have my awful days, where I don’t want to get up or get dressed, I feel I am a woman whom has made her way in the world with her BPD not in spite of it. Even though I am not ‘cured’ and still suffer the symptoms of my illness, I have worked for many, many years in learning to live with them. And am more than happy to help and talk to anyone who would like to, or needs an understanding person to listen or offer advice if wanted.

I was relived when diagnosed, as I thought I was going ‘crazy’ I was self medicating to the point of using heavy drugs, and injecting, I now have completed half a degree, have a diploma in business, a successful marriage, (after two very abusive relationships) and a two and a half year old son, (have had three miscarriages also and many fertility problems).
